KL City players to receive one month's salary, but arrears remain

KUALA LUMPUR: KL City players will soon receive one month's salary, following an announcement by Kuala Lumpur FA (KLFA) president Syed Yazid Syed Omar. However, the payment only covers a small part of the amount owed to the team.

Syed Yazid confirmed that KLFA will allocate RM1 million to the Super League side by the end of the month, allowing KL City to address part of their salary arrears. Contributions will also be made to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and the Social Security Organisation (Socso).

"This funding will settle one month's salary for the players and cover a portion of the arrears," said Syed Yazid today.

"However, it will not be enough to resolve all outstanding debts. It is my responsibility, along with the executive committee, to find a comprehensive solution to the long-standing financial challenges faced by KLFA, KL City, and our affiliates."

He added: "With the commitment and hard work of the executive committee, we will implement more structured and effective plans going forward."

The total amount of money still owed to the players and coaches remains undisclosed.
