KUALA LUMPUR: The Colombia-born Romel Morales won't be available for Harimau Malaya's international friendlies against Laos (Nov 14) and India (Nov 18) due to an injury.
But this has opened the door for the Scotland-born 21-year-old Fergus Tierney.
Fergus, who plays for Thai club Chonburi, will replace Morales who suffered an injury during Johor Darul Ta'zim's 5-0 victory over Perak on Sunday.
The FA of Malaysia has included Fergus in the squad to travel on Friday to Bangkok where they will face Laos.
Malaysia head coach Pau Marti Vicente now has a 24-player squad at his disposal.
Midfielder Stuart Wilkin said: "While losing key players like Morales is tough, those coming in from the reserve list are here for a reason. They've earned their spots, and it's a chance for us to work together and get the win.
"It's a great experience to play in countries we don't often visit, like India. These games are an opportunity to improve our away record and show what we're capable of," added Stuart.
For 24-year-old Fazrul Amin Zaman, his call-up is the culmination of years of hard work and persistence. The Kelantan Darul Naim winger has been closely monitored by Vicente's team for the past two years.
Fazrul is excited about the prospect of playing alongside his local idol, Arif Aiman Hanapi.
"If I had to choose an overseas idol, it would be Cristiano Ronaldo, but in Malaysia, it's definitely Arif. He plays on the right, so I'm looking forward to the competition with Akhyar Rashid for the left-wing spot," said Fazrul with a huge smile.
