Faisal Halim's market value drops after acid attack

KUALA LUMPUR: Football star Faisal Halim's market value has dropped after a shocking acid attack on him in May.

According to the latest from transfermarkt.com, the Selangor winger's value has fallen to €350,000 (RM1.63 million) from RM1.87 million last December.

However, Faisal remained among the top four most valuable Malaysian footballers, behind only Dion Cools (RM3.74 million), Arif Aiman (RM2.8 million), and Matthew Davies (RM2.1 million).

Football agent Effendi Jagan Abdullah attributed the drop to Faisal's lack of playing time.

Faisal, who has been struggling to regain his form, has not featured regularly for Selangor in the Super League this season.

"The market value is bound to drop when a player is not on the field regularly.

"Faisal has not been able to showcase his skill and this has impacted his value. For his market worth to increase, he needs to get back to his best and play more," said Effendi.

Faisal's decline began after he was splashed with acid by an unknown assailant in May, leaving him with severe burns and requiring a long recovery period. He only made his first appearance in August, as a late substitute against Kelantan Darul Naim.
