KUALA LUMPUR: The FA of Malaysia (FAM) has suspended Kelantan FA's (KAFA) membership as an affiliate with immediate effect, directing the association to reconvene its congress and elections.
The suspension took effect on Monday.
The decision was made through a written resolution by the national body's executive committee, invoking Article 17 of the FAM statutes, which grants the exco the authority to suspend affiliates.
This move follows FAM's letter dated Dec 21, which detailed the findings of its internal dispute committee regarding complaints against KAFA's congress-cum-elections for the 2024–2028 term.
The committee, formed under a directive from the Sports Commissioner's Office (SCO), deemed the congress-cum-elections invalid.
The findings, including irregularities such as the exclusion of affiliate members who were neither invited nor allowed to attend, were formally communicated to the SCO.
Additionally, the congress was found to have failed to adhere to the necessary procedures and protocols.
Earlier this month, FAM also suspended Perlis FA (PFA) for failing to comply with a 2019 FIFA ruling to pay RM998,000 in outstanding wages and compensation to former football director Matt Holland.
