KUALA LUMPUR: This year's Azlan Shah Cup has been postponed to early next year due to a packed hockey calendar.
Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal, Perak Hockey Association president Sayuti Abdul Samat, and Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah met here on Friday, and the decision was made.
This year, the senior team will play in the Asian Champions Trophy in India in August and the Hangzhou Asian Games in September, while the national juniors will compete in the Sultan of Johor Cup in October and the Kuala Lumpur Junior World Cup in December.
In the meeting, it was decided that two indoor hockey tournaments will be organised this year — the men's Sultan Nazrin Shah Cup and the women's Tuanku Zara Cup in Ipoh in November.
Malaysia won their maiden Azlan Shah Cup crown last year when they edged South Korea 3-2 in the final.
