KUALA LUMPUR: Perak defeated defending champions Pahang 4-1 in the National 5s men's final at National Hockey Stadium today.
Ashran Hamsani was named man of the match after scoring in the third and 13th minutes for the Silver State. Azmilmuzzuddin Misron (12th) and Fahmi Khalid (13th) contributed the other goals.
Pahang's consolation goal was scored by Shafiq Ikhmal Danial Suzaini in the 16th.
Perak coach Husaini Husin said: "Last year we did not field a team, but this year we did well to win the tournament for the first time."
Perlis edged Melaka 3-2 in a penalty shootout to finish third after both teams were tied 2-2 in regulation time.
In the women's competition, Police overpowered Kuala Lumpur 3-1 in the final, and Penang defeated Perak 3-1 to finish third.
