KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's semi-final hopes in the Asian Champions Trophy now hang in the balance after a dramatic 3-3 draw with South Korea in their final round-robin match in Inner Mongolia, China, today.
The Speedy Tigers were on the brink of victory, leading 3-2 with just 20 seconds left.
However, a penalty corner for Korea proved costly.
Yang Jihun capitalised on a defensive lapse to score the equaliser, securing Korea's spot in the semi-finals, joining India and Pakistan.
Malaysia's goals came from Azrai Aizad Abu Kamal (28th minute), Norsyafiq Sumantri (35th), and Faizal Saari (55th).
Jihun had given Korea an early lead in the sixth minute, with Park Cheoleon adding a second goal in the 42nd minute.
With five points from their round-robin campaign, Malaysia now await the result of the match between China and Japan match later today.
Sarjit Singh's side will miss out on the semi-finals if China win.
