China stun Pakistan to reach first Asian Champions Trophy final

KUALA LUMPUR: Hosts China will take on defending champions India in the Asian Champions Trophy (ACT) final in Inner Mongolia tomorrow.

In the semi-finals today, world No. 23 China stunned three-time champions and world No. 16 Pakistan with a 2-0 win in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Lu Yuanlin gave China the lead in the 18th minute, but Ahmad Nadeem equalised for Pakistan in the 37th minute.

In the shootout, Chen Benhai and Lin Changliang both converted their attempts, while Pakistan failed to score.

It will be China's first-ever appearance in the ACT final since the tournament began in 2011.

Meanwhile, world No. 5 India secured their spot in the final after a commanding 4-1 victory over South Korea.

Captain Harmanpreet Singh led the charge with two goals (19th and 45th minutes), while Uttam Singh (13th) and Jarmanpreet Singh (32nd) also found the back of the net.

South Korea replied through Yang Jihun in the 33rd minute.
