SAMBO fighter Mirage Khan will not be competing in the Philippines Sea Games after all.
“Ok guys, I am withdrawing from the Sea Games... sorry for wasting your time,” said Mirage on his Facebook page recently.
Malaysian Sambo Association (Sambo Malaysia) president Johnathan Wong is now unhappy with Mirage for announcing his decision on Facebook.
“I am disappointed with the way Mirage has handled this matter as we fought for him to be included in the Sea Games squad. But he did not appreciate our efforts.
“We had even raised funds for him to travel under Category B (self-funded). He should not have resorted to social media to make the announcement.
“Mirage is still recovering from an old knee-cap injury. He has been advised not to fight but to undergo rehabilitation,” said Johnathan.
Mirage first got into trouble when he criticised the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) for dropping Sambo from their list of sports for the Sea Games.
As a result, Sambo Malaysia banned him for misconduct. Sambo was later reinstated.
Realising his folly, a remorseful Mirage sent an apology letter to OCM and also uploaded an online video to seek forgiveness.
OCM accepted his apology, but it looks like Sambo Malaysia are going to punish him again.
“We might penalise him for his second outburst,” said Johnathan.
