PETRONAS Yamaha Sepang Racing Team's (SRT) Fabio Quartararo has set the bar higher at this weekend's Andalucia Motorcycle Grand Prix in Jerez.
Quartararo is feeling more confident after living up to his promise, which he had shown since last season, by winning the Spanish GP last week in Jerez.
The Frenchman's success at the Spanish GP marked a historic moment for the Malaysian-owned MotoGP team.
Quartararo, who had also set a Jerez track record en route to pole last week, is keen to continue his great run when he takes to the track tomorrow.
"We need to enjoy this (Spanish GP) victory but also focus on the next race this weekend. This new calendar is intense with few breaks, so it's important to stay focused," said Quartararo.
"I can't wait for Friday (tomorrow) to be back (on track) again. I want to try and improve our pace even more.
"I think we can still improve because the pace of those around us was really good, so we need to look and see which areas we should work on.
With the injured Marc Marquez expected to be out for the next two races, Quartararo, who leads the championship standings with 25 points, needs to capitalise on the Spaniard's absence if he is to mount a realistic challenge for the world title this year.
His SRT teammate Franco Morbidelli is equally keen to push the pace this weekend. The Italian finished a commendable fifth in the Spanish GP last week.
"My bike is really nice to ride. The team have done a good job setting it up, so I think we can be confident going forward," said Morbidelli.
"Racing at the same circuit again isn't an advantage as everyone is in the same situation. But it's good for understanding some other things and for improving set-up."
