Akid reigns supreme, dominates CP150 for second year in a row

KUALA LUMPUR: The dust has settled after the conclusion of another Petronas MAM Malaysian Cub Prix season and once again, Akid Aziz proved he remains the man to beat when it comes to domestic underbone racing.

The Petronas Sprinta Yamaha-CKJ Racing rider crashed out of the final race of the season in Batu Kawan yesterday (Nov 24) but it did not matter as he had already secured the title two weeks prior.

Akid wrapped up the overall CP150 title - the premier class - at the penultimate round of the championships a fortnight ago in Bandar Medini Iskandar, Johor after securing his third race win on the trot.

Akid, who claimed an impressive seven race victories in total this year, said his season went relatively smoothly.

"My journey this season has been very good. I was able to be on the podium in almost every round. The goal was always to be at the front," said Akid recently.

"I have to thank my team management, crew, family and friends for all their support."

Azroy Hakeem Anuar (Honda Estremo Yuzy Racing) won the red-flagged, final race yesterday while Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin (Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Maju Motor) and Akid's teammate Afif Amran came in second and third.

Akid claimed the championship title with 200 points. Afif (163 points) came in second while Kasma (124 points) was third overall.

The CP125 class title went to Syamil Md Iffende (Petronas Sprinta Yamaha-31 Racing) after collecting 159 points and three race victories this season.

Izam Ikmal Izamli (Petronas Sprinta Yamaha-CKJ Racing) was second on 139 points while Irfan Haykhal Amidi (Honda KC Racing) was third (123).

Petronas Sprinta Yamaha-31 Racing were also champions in the Wira KBS class through Farres Putra MD Fadhil who scored 182 points this season.

Akif Abdullah (Honda Wave Alpha KC Racing) was second (178) overall while Adib Md Hisham (Yamaha Estremo 27 Racing) was third (162).
