GO-KART racer Putera Adam Halim hopes to shift his focus to touring car racing once his schedule clears up next year.
Adam, who topped his class at the Malaysia Karting Championship (MKC) finale on Sunday, said he has become more fond of the format after competing in several touring car events last season.
"I raced in the rookie category of the Toyota Gazoo series last year. There were six races, and at first, it was a bit tough for me to adapt as they ran manual gearboxes," said Adam.
"It was a struggle initially, but I became more comfortable as the season progressed, and we were able to win the final two races.
"I had also finished second in both the Malaysia Championship Series (MCS) and the Sepang 1000 kilometres (S1K).
"I hope to compete in these three series again this season, and maybe next year fully focus on touring car races once I have completed my examinations (later this year)."
The 16-year-old won the seventh and final round of MKC at the Sepang International Karting Circuit on Sunday to emerge as the overall champion in the senior category.
Adam ended the season with 522 points, finishing ahead of second-placed Muizzuddin Musyaffa (497 points) and Raja Ariff Raja Azmi (451).
