KUALA LUMPUR: Akid Aziz is determined to move up to racing Production 250 or Supersports 600 machines in the Asia Road Racing Championships (ARRC) next year.
Akid said he feels he has already raced for too long in the underbone category, both at home and in Asia, and is looking forward to a new challenge.
"I feel that I have been racing underbones forever, I am 26 now and am not getting any younger," said Akid when met recently.
"The logical step for me would be to move up to the 250 class but if a 600 seat is available, I would take that too, though it would be more risky.
"I just want to start gaining more experience on the bigger bikes.
"I had briefly raced in the 250 class (in 2022) but then moved back down to underbones. I am hoping to give it another try."
Akid does not have much more to prove in underbone racing.
He previously won the ARRC underbone title in 2017 and also won the CP150 class of the Petronas Malaysian Cub Prix Championships last year.
Akid is again leading both championships this season.
He is racing for Petronas Sprinta Yamaha-CKJ Racing in Cub Prix and PitsBike OneWay JRT Tech2 Racing in ARRC this season.
