Making it easier for parents to bring kids to Sepang for MotoGP

SEPANG: Sepang International Circuit (SIC) chief executive officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif has announced that children aged seven and under can watch the coming Malaysian MotoGP for free at the racetrack.

This is to ease the costs on parents bringing their children to watch the prestigious race from Nov 1-3.

"This is to support parents bringing along their children and to alleviate the burden of purchasing tickets for kids. Previously, the age limit was two years old; this year we have increased it to seven years and under," said Shafriman.

The Malaysian MotoGP has been held since 1991, and Sepang Circuit has hosted the event since it opened its doors in 1999.

For this year's race, SIC is targeting an attendance of 200,000 fans over three days, which is roughly 20,000 more than last year's.

Meanwhile, police have advised the public to arrive earlier during the three days of the Malaysian MotoGP to mitigate high volume of visitors. The public is also advised to use public transport to avoid congestion.

KLIA police chief, Assistant Commissioner Azman Shari'at, said that last-minute arrivals would likely lead to additional congestion.

"More than 500 personnel will be mobilised for security and traffic control over the three days. I would also like to inform attendees that SIC has provided public transport options, including buses from KLCC and Pasar Seni, and they can also use the train service to KLIA 2," said Azman.
