Sterling show as Malaysian karate exponents secure three out of six gold medals at stake

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia won a whopping three out of six gold medals at stake on the opening day of the 2017 Sea Games karate competition at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today.

Two came from Kata exponents, while the other was from the Kumite event.

The Kata gold medals were delivered by Lim Chee Wei, who beat Indonesia's Ahmad Zigi Zaresta 3-2 in the men's final.

In the women's Kata final, Celine Lee Xin Yi beat Indonesia's Sisilia Agustiani 5-0.

Kumite athletes also gave a solid fight to their opponents, as S. Senthil Kumaran rose to defeat Filipina Jayson Ramil Macaalay 5-3 for gold in the under 60kg.
