KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s Raja Nursheena Raja Azhar won gold in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Thailand Open Track and Field Championships in Bangkok on Sunday.
Nursheena recorded a time of 14.11s in the final.
Singapore’s Nur Izlyn Zaini took home the silver medal with 14.43s while the bronze went to W.V.L. Sugandhi of Sri Lanka (14.53s).
“I am a bit disappointed with my final act because I could have run better. But whatever it is, I am grateful for the timing because it is better than the morning heat (14.39s),” she said.
Nursheena hopes to clock a much faster run at the 95th Malaysia Open at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil on Friday.
Nursheena is also targeting a spot on the Malaysian athletics team for the Asian Games in August in Jakarta and Palembang.
Her personal best is 13.84s, a time she obtained when she won the bronze medal at the 2013 Sea Games in Myanmar.
