KUCHING: Fakrul Afizul Nasir set a new national record in the men's 400m hurdles at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) at Sarawak Stadium today.
The 20-year-old, representing Kelantan, clocked 51.11 seconds to win gold, breaking his previous mark of 51.26 set at the Under-20 Asian Championships in Yecheon, South Korea, last year.
This is the first national record at the Sarawak Sukma.
Johor's Aiman Najmi Anuar won silver, clocking 53.20, while the bronze went to Emmanuel Muphy Josbert from the Federal Territories (53.50).
In the women's 400m hurdles, Johor's Nur Shaqirah Cik Mat Kilau won gold with a time of 63.36, followed by Kelantan's Siti Nur Faqihah Saidi (63.44) and Sabah's Frenynila Sherly Lucius (64.22).
