KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia are on course to defending their Asian Netball Championship title as well as earning one of the two available tickets to the Asia Qualifiers for the 2019 World Cup in Liverpool.
After losing to host nation, Singapore in the last match of round two (56-55), Malaysia will have a shot at redemption when they meet their Causeway rivals again in the semi-finals today at 5pm at the OCBC Arena.
On Thursday, the national squad, captained by Nur Syafazliyana Mohd Ali, made a few crucial errors that saw Singapore powering through for a one-point advantage over 2017 Sea Games champions Malaysia.
Malaysia finished the second round in second spot in Group E after recording two losses (to Singapore and Sri Lanka) and one win (against Hong Kong (53-43).
Aside from the Malaysia-Singapore match, the semi-finals and playoffs will see four-time Asian Championship winners Sri Lanka take on Hong Kong.
The Philippines and Maldives will play for ninth and 10th placing while Pakistan and Taiwan are head-to-head in the fight for 11th and 12th.
