KUALA LUMPUR: Low Wee Wern's hopes of winning her biggest PSA final in seven years fell short in the Macau Squash Open on Sunday.
The Penangite lost 11-5, 13-11, 11-8 to Hong Kong's Annie Au in the final.
Wee Wern, making a comeback after a serious knee injury ruled her out for 20 months, managed a couple of upsets en route to reaching the final.
On Saturday, the 29-year-old saw off Egypt's Zeina Mickawy in the last four, after having defeated Egyptians Salma Hany in the second round and later Nadine Shahin in the quarter-finals.
It is already a big achievement for Wee Wern to come this far in the tournament, surpassing the expectations of many.
Wee Wern is presently ranked World No 38 and No 2 in the country behind Nicol David (World No 19).
