KUALA LUMPUR: Former national swimmer Nurul Huda Abdullah has been appointed deputy Chef de Mission (CDM) II for the Philippines Sea Games later this year.
The 23-time Sea Games champion and deputy CDM I Ahmad Faedzal Md Ramli, also the chief executive of the National Sports Institute (NSI), will assist CDM Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin during the biennial games.
The appointment of Nurul Huda, the 1989 Sea Games Sportswoman was announced by Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) president Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria after chairing the umbrella body’s executive board meeting at Wisma FAM here on Tuesday.
Norza said: “Megat, the secretary-general of the Malaysian National Silat Association (Pesaka) and former vice president of OCM, has extensive knowledge of sports administration.
“These appointments require careful planning, and when it comes to the Sea Games, it involves exposure for the younger athletes, and they need leaders who understand them and their aspirations,” he said.
