Wendy-Nur Dhabitah fail in medal bid

WENDY Ng-Nur Dhabitah Sabri did well to qualify but finished out of the medals in the final of the women’s 3m springboard synchro event at the World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju yesterday.

The Malaysian pair earned 45.60, 46.20, 62.10, 60.45 and 63.00 for a 277.35 total, placing them in eighth place in the 12-field final at the Nambu University Municipal Aquatics Centre.

China’s Shi Tingmao-Wang Han comfortably won gold on 342.00, followed by Canada’s Jennifer Abel-Melissa Citrini Beaulieu (311.10) and Mexico’s Paola Espinosa-Melany Hernandez (294.90).

Earlier, Wendy-Dhabitah made the final by finishing sixth on a 270.60 total in the preliminary round.

In the men’s 10m platform synchro, youngsters Jellson Jabillin and Hanis Jaya Surya just missed out on the top-12 cut for the final by finishing 13th (333.90) in the preliminary round.
