KUALA LUMPUR: As expected, Malaysia were thrashed 8-0 by Japan in their final Group A match of the women's Asia Cup in Muscat, Oman on Monday.
Nasihin Nubli's side will now play Indonesia in the 5th-8th placing match, while the other classification will be between Thailand and Singapore.
Meanwhile, India, Japan, South Korea and China qualifed for the semi-finals from their respective groups and confirmed their World Cup berths.
In earlier matches, Malaysia defeated Singapore 2-0 but lost 9-0 to India.
RESULTS: Malaysia 0 Japan 8, China 7 Indonesia 0, South Korea 6 Thailand 0.
