THT out for a clean sweep

After reaching the TNB Cup final, Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) skipper Fitri Saari eyes a clean sweep of the titles in this season's Malaysia Hockey League (MHL).

THT have already bagged the Charity Shield and League titles, from beating Tenaga Nasional 3-2 on both occasions.

Tenaga will get their third chance for redemption tomorrow.

Fitri, a former national midfielder, believes his team are capable of winning their first MHL treble.

"Both teams have met two times this season, and we will have to come up with a different approach by analysing videos again.

"We won by only a goal in both the encounters, so I expect a tough final as Tenaga will surely want to erase the memories of their defeats," said Fitri.

In the semi-finals, THT had a torrid time against UiTM HA, they were held 1-1 in the first round and could only win 1-0 later to advance to the final with a slim 2-1 aggregate.

Fitri, who retired with 137 international caps, admitted they were given a scare by the university team.

"We missed too many chances against UiTM but still reached the final, but this is something we can't afford to do if we are to win a treble," said Fitri.

His brother, Faizal, is the current MHL top-scorer with 25 goals, including scoring in the crucial 1-0 win in the second leg semi-final.
