Diver Dhabitah strikes silver again

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's Nur Dhabitah Sabri bagged her second silver medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games yesterday.

She finished second in the women's 3m springboard at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre in Birmingham.

Dhabitah collected 330.90 points over five dives. Maddison Keeney of Australia won the gold with 348.95 while Canadian Mia Jolie Doucet Vallee took the bronze with 329.25. Another Malaysian, Ong Ker Ying, finished 12th and last with 231.60.

Dhabitah had, days earlier, won the 3m synchronised springboard silver with Ng Yan Yee.

Dhabitah surprisingly revealed that she was more prepared for her other events compared to the 3m springboard.

"For these Commonwealth Games, I was not so focused on this event (3m springboard) because I was more focused on the 10m platform individual and synchronised," she said.

"I am still happy… what is important is that I had fun and enjoyed the competition."

Debutant Bertrand Rhodict Anak Lises finished sixth in the men's 10m platform final. The 17-year-old amassed 419.60 over four dives in the 12-man final.

Cassiel Emmanuel Rousseau of Australia won gold with 501.30 while Canadian Rylan Mackenzie Wiens took the silver with 492.80. Englishman Matthew Lee, with 477.00, got the bronze.
