KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor's Savinder Kaur proved to be unbeatable in middle distance running at the Singapore Open.
She won the women's 1,500m gold today to add to her 800m triumph on Wednesday.
Savinder clocked 4:34.89s. South Korea's Bohana Nbm was second with 4:35.24 and Lodkeo Inthakumman of Laos was third (4:41.6). National athlete S. Geetha clocked 4:58.64 to come in fourth.
Savinder, 25, who trains under American Dwayne Miller in the last two years, said: "Though I did not improve on my personal best in both events, winning two gold in Singapore is the boost I needed for the Sea Games.
"I have not run in any meet since winning gold in the 800m at the Central Asia Open in Uzbekistan last September."
Nurul Ashikin Abas won her second gold, the women's triple jump with 13.05m. Only two athletes took part in the event, and Chuhan Zhong of Singapore cleared 12.33m. On Wednesday, Nurul won the long jump gold.
Malaysia finished 1-2-3 in the women's 400m with Chelsea Cassiopea Evali Bopulas (55.19s) taking gold. Compatriot Nurul Aliah Maisarah (56.60) and Zaimah Atifah Zainuddin (56.91) finished second and third.
K. Prabudass retained the men's 1,500m by clocking 3:59.85s. His effort was way off his personal best of 3:54.23 clocked in the Singapore Open last year.
Eizlan Dahalan, Farrell Glenn Felix Jurus and Singapore's Brandon Heng all cleared 2.09m in the men's high jump, but Eizlan was awarded gold and Farrell silver on countback.
Only five athletes took part in the men's 10,000m walk. Sriven Tan won the 25-lap race by clocking 50:45.43.
Three Malaysians took part in the women's high jump. Yap Sean Yee and Norliyana Kamaruddin were both tied with 1.68m, but the former won silver on countback. Singapore's Michelle Sng cleared 1.72m to take gold.
Andre Anura Anwar, who won last year's Sea Games men's triple jump gold with 16.21m, only managed 14.93m to bag silver.
