KUALA LUMPUR: UPM's Sharifah Noor Ellyna Syed Abdul Hamed cracked the national women's 10m air rifle record in the Higher Learning Institution Championships at the UPNM Shooting Range today.
She won the gold with 249.0 points, which bettered the previous national record of 248.1 set by Gan Chen Jie of Negri Sembilan last September. It also erased the meet record of 246.9 set by Nur Izazi Rosli of UPM in 2022.
Shaveena Mei of MSU settled for silver (245) while Mumtazah Mawaddah of UiTM bagged the bronze (223.9).
Sharifah said she was sad that she didn't have the chance to go to Munich for the World Cup, but that did not stop her from shattering the national record.
"My focus now is next year's Sea Games in Thailand," said Sharifah who had combined with Haritz Iklil Hessly Hafiz to set the national 10m air rifle mixed event record in the Ally T. H. Ong Trophy last November.
