Team MAS to back Malaysia's Olympians

KUALA LUMPUR: With only 50 days remaining until the Paris Olympics, the Youth and Sports Ministry has launched the Team MAS campaign, aiming to galvanise nationwide support for our athletes.

The campaign, themed ''We Are All Team MAS,'' aims to show support and uplift the spirits of Malaysian athletes, as they compete in Paris and strive to secure the country's first gold medal.

Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh expressed hope that the campaign would serve as a unifying force for Malaysians.

"As we enter the final 50 days, our athletes are well-prepared for Paris," Yeoh said after the Team MAS Launch Ceremony at the National Sports Council in Bukit Jalil today.

"'We Are All Team MAS' extends beyond the Olympics. Whenever our athletes represent Malaysia abroad, they carry the Team MAS spirit with them. I have reached out to corporations, urging them to join us in this endeavour."

"I firmly believe that corporate investment in national sports development will yield significant benefits, not just financially, but also in nurturing the next generation.

"I understand that sports play a pivotal role in unifying Malaysia, and this campaign is a call for unity.''

Yeoh said so far 33 athletes have qualified for Paris, with 18 athletes set to compete in the Olympics from July 26-Aug 11, while 15 athletes will compete in the Paralympics from Aug 28-Sept 8.
