Top seeds Malaysia outclassed Iraq 3-0 in the afternoon and Iran 3-0 in the evening.
Malaysia rested Asian champion Ng Eain Yow against Iraq. National No. 2 Addeen Idrakie subdued Ferman Hasan 6-11, 11-3, 4-11, 11-3, 11-7; Syafiq Kamal beat Abdulla Hashim Al-Sultani 11-6, 11-3, 11-1; C. Ameeshenraj edged
Hasanain Obeid Dakheel 7-11, 11-3, 11-6, 12-10.
Eain Yow gave Malaysia the first point against Iran with a 11-6, 11-5, 11-4 win over Sepher Etemadpur. Syafiq overcame Navid Maleksabet 11-6, 11-9, 11-5 and Ameeshenraj downed Seyed Mohammadreza Ziyaekashani 11-6, 11-4, 11-5.
The Malaysian women's team also registered identical
3-0 wins over Taiwan and Macau in Group A.
World No. 10 S. Sivasangari beat Taiwanese Lee Yi Hsuan 11-2, 11-5, 11-1; Rachel Arnold outplayed Wu Yi Chun 11-3, 11-1, 11-5; Aira Azman overpowered Wang Yuan 11-3, 11-3, 11-2.
Sivasangari later beat Macau's Liu Kwai Chi 11-4, 11-1, 11-3; Rachel overcame Yeung Weng Chi 11-4, 11-6, 11-9; Aifa Azman tamed Leong Ieng Lam 11-4, 11-0, 11-2.
