KUALA LUMPUR: National archer Ariana Nur Dania Mohamad Zairi's campaign in the women's individual event came to an early end at the Paris Olympics today.
Ariana, who was making her Olympic debut, was edged 6-5 by Italy's Chiara Rebagliati in the round of 1/32 at Esplanade des Invalides.
The 19-year-old, however, can hold her head high as she gave her vastly more experienced opponent a proper scare, forcing a shoot-off after both archers were tied at 5-5.
Rebagliati, 27, previously won gold at the 2022 Birmingham World Games and claimed two bronzes at last year's European Games.
