KUALA LUMPUR: Can the purple track at Stade de France Stadium bring luck to Azeem Fahmi when he competes in the men's 100m preliminary round at the Paris Olympics on Saturday?
The Hangzhou Asian Games bronze medallist tested the new purple track for the first time on Thursday.
His coach, Ken Harnden, was happy with Azeem's training session.
"Azeem looked good today and I believe he is ready to race," said Harnden.
Meanwhile, Azeem said he felt good training on the purple track.
"I am also feeling excited and nervous at the same time as this is my first Olympics," said Azeem, who trained with his Auburn University students from Nigeria and Zimbabwe.
The 20-year-old will race on Saturday at 4.35pm (Malaysian time).
If Azeem finishes in the top two in his race, he will qualify for the heats, which could see him on the same blocks with favourites Noah Lyles and Lamont Marcell Jacobs, the reigning champion.
