DAILY RECAP: Dhabitah moves into 3m springboard final but tough day for Ashley

KUALA LUMPUR: Only two Malaysian athletes saw action on the 13th day of the Paris Olympics yesterday.

National diver Nur Dhabitah Sabri booked her spot in the women's 3 metre springboard individual event final after placing a decent eighth in the semi-finals. Only the top-12 advanced.

Dhabitah's dives scored 67.50, 55.50, 46.50, 57.00 and 60.45 from the judges for a combined 286.95 at the Paris Aquatics Centre. It was a marginal improvement from the 283.65 she managed in the preliminaries on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old is making her third Olympic appearance in Paris.

In golf, Ashley Lau had a tough day in the second round of the women's individual event, settling for a five-over 77 at Le Golf National.

She ended the day tied for 40th - 27 spots down from yesterday- on a two-day 149. Asley had opened her campaign with an even-par 72 on Wednesday.

Later today, diver Bertrand Rhodict Lises will begin his Paris campaign by competing in the men's 10m platform individual event preliminaries while cyclist Izzah Izzati Asri will compete in the women's individual sprint event.
