KUCHING: Johor's Danish Iftikhar Roslee and Selangor's Nur Afrina Batrisyia Rizal were crowned the sprint king and queen of the Malaysia Games (Sukma) after winning the men's and women's 100m gold medals, respectively, here today.
Running in lane three, 17-year-old Danish claimed the gold medal by clocking 10.53s in the final at Sarawak Stadium.
Selangor's Danish Irfan Tamrin finished second with a time of 10.60s, while bronze went to Pahang's Efrain Feerzan Qhan Yazid (10.66s).
Afrina met expectations by securing gold in the women's event with a time of 11.64s, breaking the Sukma record previously held by Terengganu's Azreen Nabila Alias, who set a time of 11.81s at the 2016 Perak edition.
The silver medal went to Terengganu's Izzatul Musfirah Ahmad Kamal Azira, who clocked 11.90s, while Sarawak's Ormilla Octavia Codday Nyadau took bronze with a time of 12.19s.
