KUCHING: Sprinter Nur Afrina Batrisyia Rizal secured her third Malaysia Games (Sukma) gold medal after leading Selangor to victory in the women's 4x100m event today.
Nur Afrina, Dhanea Marsyella Eehsan Faez Sivam, Aina Batrisyia Abdullah and Lie Yee Teng clocked 47.97s in the final at Sarawak Stadium here.
Johor (48.32s) and Sarawak (48.38s) came in second and third, respectively.
Nur Afrina, who won the 100m and 200m events earlier, said their victory in the relay was unexpected as they only had two training sessions before the event.
"We only found out we would be competing together as a quartet a month before Sukma.
"Due to other commitments, we only had two training sessions, focusing on baton exchanges," said Nur Afrina.
Selangor also won the men's 4x100m relay title.
The quartet of Ahmad Sufi Mohd Faiesal, Danish Irfan Tamrin, Haziq Akhir and Adam Hakim Samsuddin clocked 40.86s, finishing ahead of silver medallists Sabah (41.06) and bronze medallists Pahang (41.21).
Meanwhile, Negri Sembilan's Yee Zhi Xin clocked 2:05:47.02 to win gold in the women's 20,000m walk, while Federal Territories' Kok Hui Ying (2:06:43.61) and Kelantan's Alyssa Qistina Leong (2:08:05.27) finished second and third.
In the men's long jump, Penang's Tan Zhi Hang won gold with a leap of 7.16m, followed by Sabah's Kasman Kassim (7.11) and Sarawak's Gabriel Syamsuri Pauline (7.08).
