KUCHING: A diary with 1,001 secrets has helped Pahang shooter Cheah Zen Hong win a magnificent seven golds at the Sarawak Malaysia Games (Sukma).
The red book details everything Zen Hong does when he shoots, including the atmosphere and his own condition during competitions.
"It's like a diary, what I've done since the beginning. I will write and read," said Zen Hong.
The diary is read before and after each shot as a reminder not to repeat the mistakes that could affect his performance.
The hotshot from Kuantan said the diary is like "my story and the sport of shooting", and it has helped him to find his accuracy and rhythm to perform his best shots.
"I write in the book what I do every day during training and tournaments. I also write after participating in a shooting competition.
"It's important because it helps to give me a clear picture when I read it back. I will remember what was good and what I need to do to get the best results."
In Kuching, Zen Hong has blasted his way to a mind-boggling six golds, triumphing in the men's 25-metre pistol individual and team event, men's 10m air pistol individual and team event, and men's 25m standard pistol individual and team event and mixed 10m air pistol.
Zen Hong also shot down Sukma records in the men's 25m pistol and men's 10m air pistol individual.
