Sukma 2024: Russian coach to go bald after Pahang's success in shooting

KUCHING: Success often comes with a price, and promises made must be kept if the target is achieved.

Following Pahang's triumph in shooting at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Sarawak, Russian coach Elena Sotnik will fulfil her promise by going bald.

Pahang emerged as the overall champions in shooting, clinching 12 gold, five silver and four bronze medals.

The shooting competition ended in Kuching on Wednesday.

Though some may have thought it a joke, Sotnik, the Pahang head coach, has confirmed she will honour her word by shaving her head upon her return to Kuantan.

"The 12 gold medals we won were a surprise, and I said that if we achieved this, I would shave my head. So, I must do this," said the 62-year-old coach.

"If I make a promise, I must fulfil it. When I return to Kuantan, I will shave my head."

Cheah Zen Hong was the standout performer for Pahang, securing seven gold medals and being named the male athlete of the event.

Negri Sembilan were the overall runners-up with a haul of 12 gold, three silver and four bronze medals, followed by Sarawak (0-4-6).
