Sukma 2024: Swimmer Andrew sets his second national record

KUCHING: Selangor swimmer Andrew Goh broke his second national record at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) today.

This time Andrew did it in the 50m breaststroke with a time of 28.03 seconds - which beat his own national record of 28.10s set at last year's Malaysia Open - in Heat 3 at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatics Centre.

This is his second national record after he improved on his own mark in the men's 100m breaststroke on Monday. Andrew, 20, clocked 1:01.39s to better his own mark of 1:02.30s set at the Malaysia Open.

Sabah's Emmanuel Loh (30.08s) and Pahang's Loo Jhe Yee (30.53s) also qualified for the 50m breaststroke final this afternoon from Heat 3.

Another Sukma record fell at the pool when 15-year-old Isabelle Chiyi Buckley, representing Federal Territories, erased Christina Loh's eight-year-old 50m breaststroke record of 33.29s by registering 32.83s in Heat 3. Johor's Alicia Li (33.16s) also qualified from Heat 3 for the final this afternoon.
