Danish Aizad makes strong recovery after finishing last

KUALA LUMPUR: Danish Aizad Firdaus Chua spent the past year learning his Changquan routine, and it resulted in a silver medal at the Asian Wushu Championships in Macau today.

His score of 9.710 placed him behind gold medallist Ho Yin Ching of Hong Kong (9.713). Yin Ching's compatriot, Chen Jin Song (9.706), was third.

The silver was a consolation for Penangite Danish Aizad after he finished last in the Daoshu on the first day.

"His difficulty was the highest in the field. To his credit, he managed to do it.

"He made a lot of errors in the Daoshu, and it led to points being deducted, so this silver is an excellent recovery from him," said national coach Koo Chee Zhong.

In women's nangun, Tan Cheong Min added a silver medal to the gold she won in the Nandao yesterday.

She scored 9.693 to finish behind Macau's gold medallist Wong Sam In (9.700), Darya Latisheva (9.686) of Uzbekistan rounded up the podium.
