KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian wushu team wrapped up their Asian Championships campaign in style, securing their third gold medal in Macau today.
Danish Aizad Firdaus Chua, Si Shin Peng and Bryan Ti combined to claim the men's Duilian gold with an impressive 9.593 points at the Tap Seac Sports Centre.
The Philippines' trio of Mark Anthony Polo, Mark Lester Ragay and Vincent Ventura took silver with 9.556 points, while Hong Kong's Ho Yin Ching, Chen Jin Song and Kinson Ting (9.536) completed the podium in third.
Meanwhile, Malaysia's Sydney Chin and Wong Zi Hong added to Malaysia's medal haul by clinching bronze in the women's taijiquan (pair) with a score of 9.743.
"It was a gamble, but they had the highest difficulty level. We knew that if they executed their routine well, they'd be on the podium," said national coach Koo Chee Zhong.
"This is our first success at the Asian level."
Malaysia finished third overall in the standings, claiming three golds, two silvers, and three bronzes.
As expected, China dominated with a haul of 15-1-0, while Iran finished runners-up on 4-2-3.
