PUCHONG: AZ Slumber, Kedah Alpha and Twenty One dominated at the 2024 Malaysia Esports League (MEL24) today.
The teams each took home RM10,000 for their standout performances at the ESI Hub, Spacerubix here.
Perak's AZ Slumber, made up of Fhaqkroul Aieman, Eizaad Shamsudin, Haikal Adam Razak, Nor Azmie Nazrie, Shairazi Radzuan and Faliq Fitri Faizul, defeated Kedah's Team SP and Sabah's AR Gang to clinch victory in the PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile event.
Kedah Alpha made a strong comeback in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), securing a 3-1 win over Penang's Pixel Esports in the final, while the Federal Territories team finished third.
Kedah Alpha's Putera Daniel was named Most Valuable Player, earning an additional RM2,000.
In the Free Fire category, Melaka's Twenty One, comprising Ahmad Luqmannurhakim Azman, Nabil Syamim Kahar, Irfan Hezry Jaafar, Aryand Iskandar and Qayyum Mikhail Jalil, triumphed over Terengganu and Negri Sembilan's Elite, who placed second and third, respectively.
Johor's Farish Luzman Farid Sellekumar also stood out, winning RM5,000 in a solo event after beating Melaka's Hafiz Norhadi and Terengganu's Hafiq Azuan Zaiham.
"I lost on the first day but kept pushing myself until I reached the final and won the title. "This was my first major competition on the main stage, and while I felt the pressure, I was confident in my abilities," said Farish.
This year's competition attracted 9,205 players across four Premier League events — PUBG Mobile, MLBB, Free Fire and eFootball 24 Mobile.
The Open League featured popular titles such as Valorant and Tekken 8.
A key highlight was the qualification opportunity for the top three PUBG Mobile teams, who will secure spots in the National PUBG Mobile Championship (PMNC). Additionally, the Free Fire champions earned entry to the final qualifiers for the 2025 Free Fire World Series Malaysia (FFWS MY) Spring.
The esports circuit continues to grow, positioning Malaysia as a premier hub for competitive gaming on the global stage.
