BSE claim Malaysia's first world title in eSports

KUALA LUMPUR: Black Shrew eSport (BSE) have made history as the first Malaysian team to capture a world title in eSports.

BSE achieved this milestone by defeating Indonesia's Dominator Esports in the Honour of Kings World Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia, today.

The squad — featuring Lee Han "Siang" Siang, Jimmy Tan, Chan "MusangKing" Tat Yann, Lim "Zhihong" Chee Hong, Ryan "JR" Na, and Low Li Zhe — lived up to their status as heavy favourites, sweeping the best-of-seven Grand Final 4-0.

"I'm very happy with this victory, thank you for all the support," said top laner Han Siang in the post-match interview.

Head coach Lai "Joker" Kok Kiong credited his team's seamless strategy execution for the victory.

"We did our best and communicated well with each other during the final."

Bottom laner Ryan thanked his parents for their support.

"Your son is one of the best players in the world right now."

Tat Yann, who was named Most Valuable Player, praised his teammates, calling the win a "team effort."

Black Shrew eSport claimed US$300,000 (RM1.3 million) in prize money for their triumph.

In July, Selangor Red Giants became the first Malaysian team to clinch an international eSports title by winning the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Mid Season Cup, part of the Esports World Cup, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
