KUALA LUMPUR: Yasshmita Jadish Kumar's hopes of winning her first PSA title this year were dashed after a 11-7, 11-7, 11-6 defeat against India's Akanksha Salunkhe in the Open de International Féminin De Couzeix-Limoges final in France yesterday.
The world No. 88 from Negri Sembilan lost to the 73rd ranked and sixth seed Indian in 29 minutes.
In the semi-finals, Yasshmita had upset compatriot and world No. 79 Sehveetrraa Kumar 11-5, 2-11, 6-11, 11-9, 11-9.
Yasshmita, 20, who is based in Bristol, England, said: "My five-set semi-final match took a toll on me as it was emotional and physically demanding. It made it hard to get back up to that level again."
She will next compete in the Ace Malaysia Cup at the Curve Mall in Selangor from Nov 12-17.
Coach John Welton said: "This week we saw Yasshmita's brand of squash and her style. It was brilliant and she can build on this brilliant week for the rest of the season."
