Swimmer Jayden sets national record at World Cup

JOHOR BARU: Jayden Tan concluded Malaysia's campaign at the Singapore World Cup by breaking another national short course record at the OCBC Aquatics Centre on Saturday.

Jayden broke his own 400m individual medley record by posting four minutes 16.09 seconds, improving on his previous mark of 4:18.28s set at the National Short Course Championships in July.

Jayden said he went to Singapore with the aim of breaking the national record, especially after missing the World Cup Shanghai leg due to exams.

"It was part of my goal, so I won't say breaking the record is unexpected.

"I hope to do well in Budapest for the upcoming World Short Course Championships," said the 20-year-old.

Jayden's time in Singapore qualified him for the World Championships in December under the B cut, which is 4:17.91s.
