Comeback kings SRG edge CFU to reach M6 knockout round

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Red Giants (SRG) pulled off another comeback to secure a place in the knockout round of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M6 World Championship.

The Mid-Season Cup champions defeated Cambodia's First Unite (CFU) Gaming 2-1 in a thrilling fifth-round Swiss stage match at the IOI Grand Exhibition and Convention Centre in Putrajaya today.

SRG analyst Poon "OzoraVeki" Kok Sing praised his players for handling the high-pressure environment and excelling in the best-of-three showdown against the Cambodian side.

"We typically perform well under this format. We're confident of achieving more in the tournament, and we'll continue to improve," said Kok Sing.

SRG coach Michael Angelo "Arcadia" Bocado admitted the match was an emotional rollercoaster.

"Game One was intense, Game Two was one-sided, and in Game Three, we took the lead, but they (CFU) staged a comeback before we managed to regain control and attack," he said.

In the knockout stage, SRG will face Fnatic ONIC of the Philippines, while Malaysia's Team Vamos will take on Indonesia's RRQ Hoshi.

The M6 knockout stage is set to take place at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil from Dec 7-15.
