EVERY year, Malaysia celebrates National Day to commemorate the history and struggles that led to its independence.
The peace and harmony Malaysia enjoys today are the result of the struggles and sacrifices made by our forefathers.
As such, it is important for Malaysians to nurture the spirit of independence and courage that has defined our past and will lead us into the future. Even as we face challenges, we remain steadfast together in overcoming odds and rising above challenges.
The many exciting activities that are organised each year remind us not only of the country's independence but also to remember the indomitable and courageous spirit of our forefathers who made it possible.
ORGANISING ACTIVITIES AND COMPETITIONS
To kickstart the celebration of independence every year, various programmes and competitions are organised for Malaysians to partake in.
Some of these activities and competitions are usually carried out in schools or offices.
One common activity is a National Day-themed decoration competition, in which Malaysians decorate spaces by featuring national figures and displaying the Jalur Gemilang flags.
These activities and competitions can foster patriotism among today's society, especially in children, and bring forth a healthy competitive nature.
EXPERIENCE HISTORY
Another activity that Malaysians can do is to visit historical heritage sites.
Doing so will encourage Malaysians to learn valuable history lessons, as well as enjoy the uniqueness and architecture of historic buildings.
This way, Malaysians will understand that National Day is an occasion not only to celebrate, but also cherish and respect.
WATCHING PATRIOTIC FILMS
Besides that, Malaysians can also watch patriotic films or dramas, such as 'Ola Bola' and 'Geran', to continue to inspire us.
This year, PETRONAS took a different approach to celebrate National Day by presenting the fifth episode of their '366' series.
The fifth episode by PETRONAS manifests the National Day and Malaysia Day 2022 theme, which is 'Keluarga Malaysia, Teguh Bersama.'
It brings a message of courage, in order to succeed together and not let the past stop you.
Here's a look at the film:
The story begins with Vikram, the bus driver who got into an accident. Due to his injury from it, Vikram is unable to coach his junior football team.
