LOCAL entertainment platform XTRA has unveiled its latest initiative aimed at discovering new musical talent, XTRA XSTAR.
The campaign, which leverages social media, seeks to spotlight emerging local singers.
Submissions for XTRA XSTAR are now open, with participants of all ages and backgrounds encouraged to showcase their vocal talents.
Aspiring singers can submit their performances on TikTok, using the hashtag #XTRAXSTAR2024, while ensuring their accounts are public.
Entries will be judged on creativity, vocal quality and performance uniqueness.
XTRA's chief editor and campaign manager, Muhammad Kamaruddin Mohd Razal, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative.
"Through XTRA XSTAR, we are opening new opportunities for all talented and interested individuals to become singers. Using digital platforms like TikTok, with its innovative approach, gives participants the chance to show their creativity in delivering unique and captivating singing performances," he said.
The competition will shortlist 20 participants, who will move on to the Top 20 round, which will be based on public votes.
The Top 5 finalists, chosen by a panel of industry professionals and celebrities, will then compete in a live final on XTRA's TikTok account.
The winner will secure a recording and management contract with Alternate Records & Talents.
In addition to a recording contract, the winner will also gain extensive media coverage across Media Prima's platforms, including exclusive interviews and features.
Participants are reminded that they must not be under any existing recording or management contracts to qualify.
