AUTHORITIES seized 251 million pesos (RM21 million) worth of syabu weighing nearly 40kgs, stuffed in tea packs, from a Chinese man in Paranaque city.
The 38-year-old man was apprehended during a sting by anti-narcotics agents at the parking lot of a grocery chain in Baclaran on Sunday around 3:30pm, Philstar.com reported.
The sting involved the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Armed Forces of the Philippines, Southern Police District, Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group as well as the Pasay and Parañaque police.
In the operation, the suspect allegedly sold a pack of syabu for 1 million pesos to a police officer who posed as a buyer. The suspect yielded five bags containing at least 37 more kilos of syabu, according to PDEA.
Police said they also confiscated a mobile phone and two cars, which he allegedly used in the illegal drug trade.
The PDEA said it has yet to identify the suspect's drug supplier and that he is now being held by police on drug trafficking charges under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
