BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The royal wedding of Prince Abdul Mateen Bolkiah and Yang Mulia Dayang Anisha Rosnah took place today, reported AFP.
The wedding ceremony of the royal couple occurred at Masjid Omar Ali Saifuddien here, at noon.
Mateen is the 10th child of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, the world's longest-reigning monarch and once the richest person globally.
His bride, the granddaughter of one of his father's key advisers, is reported to own a fashion brand and have business interests in the tourism sector.
The pinnacle of the royal couple's wedding ceremony will be on Sunday, with a grand ceremony at the 1,788-room palace.
The guest list is expected to include royal guests and political leaders from both within and outside the country.
Mateen graduated as a cadet officer from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and represented his country in polo at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
In recent years, he has played an increasingly prominent role in international diplomacy.
The royal prince accompanied his father to the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla last May and the funeral of Queen Elizabeth in 2022.
Radio Television Brunei (RTB) previously reported that the royal couple's wedding ceremony will last for 10 days, commencing with the Royal Proclamation Ceremony on January 7.
