#Showbiz: Drama producer fears backlash for having Rita Rudaini in new drama

KUALA LUMPUR: After almost two years of not appearing in any TV drama due to her refusal to be vaccinated, actress Rita Rudaini is set to act in a telemovie, produced by Zeel Production.

Drama producer Fadzil Teh said he was thrilled when the 46-year-old artiste finally agreed to accept his offer to act in the telemovie.

Directed by Izuan Mokhtar, filming is scheduled to begin soon.

"Rita and I have always been close and despite the pandemic, we still kept in touch.

"So when the idea for this drama came up, I talked to her about it and she said she had no problem getting back in action," he said in a news report yesterday.

However, despite his confidence in Rita's credibility for the role, Fadzil admitted that he had considered the possibility of being criticised by netizens for hiring the actress who stood strongly against taking Covid-19 vaccines.

"I have already discussed the matter with the production team. The team didn't see any problem working with her. Even the TV station has given the greenlight to have her in the telemovie.

"So people may very well say what they want. We will be careful and follow strictly the SOP set so as to avoid the possibility of any cast and crew be infected while filming," he explained.
