Senior citizen killed after car crashes into tree in Johor pre-dawn accident

JOHOR BARU: A 74-year-old man was killed when the car he was travelling in crashed into a tree in Jalan Panti 6, Taman Johor here early this morning.

Johor Baru (north) deputy police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said the victim succumbed to severe head injuries and died on the spot in the 4.13am accident.

"The victim, who was heading to Jalan Ledang from Jalan Panti 6, is believed to have lost control of the car before the vehicle skidded and crashed into a tree on the roadside," Yusof said in a statement today.

The case, he said, is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
