#SHOWBIZ: All-child cast to perform 4 enchanting plays at PJPAC

KUALA LUMPUR: A bevy of children aged between 4 and 14 will be performing four popular stories, namely Alice In Wonderland Junior, The Wizard Of Oz, Aladdin, and A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre on June 23.

The all-child cast from The Story Book Academy will perform Alice In Wonderland Junior and The Wizard Of Oz at 11am.

It will feature children aged 4 to 9, with 7-year-old Kishaillaputhri as Alice, 8-year-old Sharleez as Dorothy, and 9-year-old Tyler as the Wizard.

Following this at 2.30pm, children aged 4 to 7 will bring the magical tale of Aladdin to life, with 7-year-old Kaajal

playing the lead role of Aladdin.

The final performance at 3.30pm promises a charming rendition of Shakespeare's timeless comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream, enacted by children aged 7 to 13, with 14-year-old Ferliis weaving the enchanting narrative.

Six students from the Dignity for Children Foundation, who had been selected as the inaugural beneficiaries of The Story Book Academy's Performing Arts Scholarship programme earlier this year, will portray the characters of Demetrius, Lysander, Duke Theseus, Puck, Queen Titania, and Fairy Mustardseed.

Established as an offshoot of The Story Book, an organisation known for holding interactive and roleplay-based storytelling events, The Story Book Academy has been conducting acting and roleplay classes since September 2020, catering to children as young as 3 years old.

The academy's students have showcased their talents publicly at venues such as Sunway Velocity Mall, Paradigm Mall PJ, and Tropicana Gardens Mall, presenting beloved stories like A Christmas Carol, Journey To The West, and Ali Baba And The 40 Thieves.

Since 2022, their repertoire has expanded to include other shows like Peter Pan, Pinocchio, The Lion King, and more at PJPAC and KuAsh Theatre.
